The National Council of Population and Development (NCPD) has raised concerns over a high birth rate in Uasin Gishu.
NCPD North Rift coordinator Moses Ouma says majority of children being born in the county are not planned for.
Speaking in Eldoret, Monday, Ouma said the situation was as a result of women who were yet to embrace family planning.
"Only 6 out of 10 women in Uasin Gishu are using any method of family planing. Since family planning is a universal matter we expected 10 out of 10 women to be having access to at least one method and this would have helped a lot in terms of planing and development," said Ouma.
He urged the County Assembly and the Executive arm of County government to put in place measures that would help sensitise locals on the need to embrace family planning.
"We need policy makers to work together and ensure we have legislative and financial support to issues of family planing," the NCPD North Rift coordinator said.
