Residents of Koinange, Shabab area have raised a red flag over the increased cases of missing school boys in the area.
The residents argue that the boys are being traced to farms where they are turned to shepherds in Molo and Nakuru.
In the recent case, a twelve year boy, John Muturi, disappeared four weeks ago without a trace.
“We hear that the boy is in Subukia where he is raising cattle for a rich tycoon,” said Jane Muthoni, a relative.
Recently, two boys aged nine and eleven who had disappeared for three weeks were tracked to Kuresoi area raising livestock.
The boys claimed they had been forced onto a car which sped off and their hands and eyes were tied. They later found themselves in a farm where they were made to look after sheep.
“We were helped to escape by an old man who showed us the route to follow. We left the sheep while they were grazing and followed the route where a passing truck gave us a lift and dropped us at Kolen,” said one of the boys whose family sought anonymity for fear of being attacked.
The residents now want the police to clear the air over what is going on.
“It is not a coincidence. Children cannot disappear like that. There has to be a logical explanation,” said Magdalene Waweru, a resident.
