Addressing residents at Iterio Lutheran church on Sunday during a fundraising, Deputy President William Ruto said that the national government has already reduced the cost from Sh2,000 to Sh500.

“The national government has reduced the cost from Sh2,000 to Sh500 as one way of helping farmers to have high milk production,” said Ruto.

He, therefore, challenged  the counties to reduce the cost up to Sh100 since they have the potential.

“The counties can as well reduce the cost up to 100 shillings since they have the potential," said Ruto.

"I advise the counties to have measures in place which will help farmers get the service at a cheaper cost so that we can produce more milk,” added the DP.

In addition, Ruto said that the national government will donate some milk coolant machines but they are discussing with the county administration in identifying the places where the machines can be installed.

“We are going to have some coolant machines so that we can help our farmers to have a better place where they can store their milk," said Ruto.

"So there are arrangements of installing the machines as we hope that when the cost of insemination is reduced farmers will produce more milk,” he added.
