Over 300 youths who have reformed from alcohol and drug abuse are spearheading the operation to end illicit brews in Kiambu County.
The youths drawn from Gatukuyu and Makwa villages on Tuesday said they will not stop war until illicit liquor ends in the area.
"lllicit liquor is high in the region but we will not stop war until other youths who have not reformed change their behaviours," said David Waithika, a former brewer.
Waithika lauded Governor Ferdinand Waititu for launching the program to help drug addicts reform.
"Waititu is making good efforts to end illicit brews in the region. We will help police and local government officers to crackdown on illicit brews dealers because alcohol has made several families break up.
"Illicit brewers carrying out the illegal businesses along River Chania and in bushes will be dealt with accordingly. Drug dens will not be spared in the crackdown" he added.
The youths will also participate in garbage collection and clear bushes across the county and in return they will receive incentives including meals and a daily Sh300 allowance.
