The women with small business have been challenged to make the necessary arrangements so has to benefit from funds from the Affirmative Action funds, a kitty set aside by the women's representative.
Speaking during the graduation of the reformed illicit brewers at Ukweli Training Centre in Ilula Uasin-Gishu county, Elgeyo-Marakwet women representative Dr. Susan Chebet said the women who have reformed should get a boost so has to enable them to become self reliant.
Dr. Chebet also said that the legislator has applauded the crucial role played by Ukweli Training Centre.
The reformed graduates who have undergone training courses in poultry farming, bee keeping, dairy farming among others are expected to put into practice what they have learnt after graduating. The centre that was established in 2013 has played a major role in rehabilitating the chronic drug addicts and illicit brewers and has trained over 500 people. Many have ended up being successful entrepreneurs.
“I am impressed because the crime rate has decreased and many people are beginning to focus on development unlike previous days where alcoholism was a major cause of derailment,” added Dr. Susan Chebet.
