The Kalenjin council of elders has urged its leaders to stop public spats and instead unite for development in their region. Led by their chair Francis Kiptoo, the council cursed at differences that were present among their leaders, saying that it is time they embrace dialogue to settle their issues.
"These differences that keep widening should be stopped once and for all, and this only possible through dialogue .They should bury the hatchet and focus on development ", said Francis Kiptoo .
He was speaking in Nakuru town over the weekend during a meeting that brought together over 100 council of elders in the county. Kiptoo said bitter words against each other won't help the community but will instead drawback development .
Joseph Ngeno, also a member of the council added that this was the best time for the Kalenjin community to unite. He further urged community leaders to respect and back deputy president William Ruto, as he is the communities’ flag bearer . He further warnedleaders against undermining the confidence of their people.
