Operations in some parts of the expansive Dadaab refugee camp have been paralyzed after the United Nation High Commissioner for refugees announced closure of parts of its offices.
Residents of Hagadera and Alinjugur have been staging protests since last week Wednesday in bid to push the agency to change its decision to close its Alinjugur sub office.
Residents said crucial services and activities such as food distribution, health, repatriation, education and registration of refugees will be paralyzed if the offices closes.
They said if the plans are not changed the residents will suffer since most of the services will not be available closer to them.
Officials from the agency have not made any official communication to the press or the locals following the decision to close down their offices.
