Provision of health services to locals in the North Rift region on Tuesday received a major boost following the opening of a newly refurbished Renal Unit at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town.The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) funded the refurbishment of the facility at a tune of sh1 million.While officially handing over the unit to the MTRH management, KRA Board of Directors chairman Edward Sambili said the facility will offer hemodialysis services, clinics besides being a transplant centre."As part of our Corporate social responsibility, we decided to renovate this Renal Unit at a cost sh 1 million which involved both civil and maintenance works," Sambili said during the event that was also attended by Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarrup Mishra."This facility will help every child suffering from kidney problems as they will be attended in a conducive environment. We will also adopt the facility for the next one year as we want to be part of it," he added.Dr. Phillip Cheptinga, a pediatrician at the MTRH welcomed the support from the KRA saying it will help improve on it's efficiency in service delivery."MTRH is the only hospital in East and Central Africa region that offers dialysis services for children below 10 years with kidney problems," he said
