Embattled Karachuonyo MP James Rege has blasted his opponents for allegedly hiring youth to mud-sling him.
The lawmaker who is facing a monumental task to retain his seat after ditching ODM to join the newly-launched Jubilee Party says his opponents are scared of his popularity in the area and as such, they have resorted to a mudslinging campaign to dent his political fortunes.
Speaking in his constituency on Monday, Rege said his record in the area speaks for itself and those who are spreading 'false and malicious' information about him have sensed defeat.
He alleged his opponents have hired youth to spread false information about him on social media that he has not developed the constituency since being elected in 2007.
Rege, an engineer by profession was elected in 2007 on an ODM ticket before retaining his seat in 2013.
Prior to that, he was a Permanent Secretary during the NARC government.
However, his life in the last couple of months has not been a walk in the pack as he has been accused by area residents and leaders alike of betraying them when he joined Jubilee Party.
