In a meeting organised and sponsored by the office of Kibera legislator, Ken Okoth, the leaders vowed to spearhead peace initiatives in their localities.

The meeting came just hours after a night-long tension that engulfed villages of Katwekera, Olympic, Makina and Karanja.

However, the slum residents have been urged to be responsible in their daily utterances, especially on the statements they post on social media noting that such sentiments can either divide or unite. In addition, faithfuls from the Muslim and Christian brotherhood were encouraged to peacefully co-exist as holy brethren since both religions value tolerance and peace.

The tension in Kibera started when a section of youth pelted stones at the Masjid Mosque on Tuesday night, where some misleading news went round that a religious clash had erupted.
