Kisumu residents have been asked to register their cancer patients and relatives with the African Cancer Foundation (ACF).
ACF Chief Executive Officer Dorothy Nyong’o has called on residents to ensure that their relatives and friends suffering from the different types of cancer with the foundation to help them in seeking help and medication.
Nyong’o, who is Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o’ wife, said that a number of cancer patients normally succumb to the illness due to lack of proper medication as cancer drugs are very expensive.
The foundation was founded by Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago.
“The Senator managed to get treated as he discovered his early enough before it had blown out of proportion.
That is why we need all cancer patients to register with this foundation so that we can help them seek medical attention both locally and abroad,” said Nyong’o.
Speaking to the press at Kisumu Senate Office today, the foundation’s CEO said that they are planning to sensitize cancer patients from all the counties to reduce on the number of deaths related to cancer.
She said that the illness, when managed properly, can be treated and the patient can live a healthy life.
