Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has urged youth and women to register groups in order to benefit from government funds aimed at boosting their financial welfare.

He said the county government was giving youth and women a bigger priority to benefit from the development contract given by the county government, adding that various groups that are fully registered have benefitted.

He said the award of contracts was being done in a free and fair manner, urging more women and youth groups to register and try many opportunities given by the county government.

Addressing residents at Olenguruone town, the governor also asked bodaboda operators to form development associations and seek loans from financial institutions.

He said youth should venture into business instead of complaining that there were no job opportunities in the country.

“I urge you not to wait for white collar jobs in order to make an honest living.

“We have people in the jua kali industries who are earning a better figure through self-employment,” he said.

He told youths to avoid depending much on parents after college but to venture into jobs to make the two ends meet.
