“We urge unemployed youths to register with NGOs, since we intend to widely empower both the youths and women in projects as agricultural activities to help them become self-reliant, as well as spur economic growth in all the counties,” said Cheboi.

This also comes at a time when the council announced that all duly registered NGOs are required to account for their annual expenditures with the aim of ensuring accountability and eradicating corruption within the organizations.

The National Council of NGOs started its operations in 1990 following the popular enactment of the NGO's Coordination Act.

From then, the council has adopted its own structure, terms and procedures to foresee the efficient administration of its mandate.
