The Media Council of Kenya will withdraw press cards from journalists who defy its code of ethics.
The council's chief executive officer Harun Mwangi said Wednesday they were getting alarmed by rising cases of unprofessionalism especially among accredited journalists.
He said several cases involving bribery, extortion and misrepresentation were among the many complaints they have received.
He added that as a measure to contain the rising vice, the council had decided to revoke press cards belonging to perpetrators.
The Media Council of Kenya is a statutory body set up by the Media Council Act to regulate the media and conduct of journalists in the country.
