[Photo: twitter.com]The Media Council of Kenya has called on the mainstream TV stations to immediately cease covering what it has termed as 'sensational' live press conferences. The council said that some the 'live coverages' were divisive and are creating unnecessary tension and anxiety to members of the public, reports the Star."Focus should now be on the different actors and the progress in the electoral process. We need more voices of reason. The public is anxious," acting CEO David Omwoyo said in a statement on Thursday evening as quoted by the Star.He added: "We urge the media to cease all sensational live press conferences and focus on the electoral process."This followed, the paper notes, a scuffle between Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch on Thursday evening. The two clashed during a live press conference at Panafric Hotel over a joke that Murkomen was going to pay for the tea that NASA MPs at the hotel were taking. This did not augur well with the MP who accused Murkomen of lying to Kenyans and disrespecting NRM leader Raila Odinga. There was a bitter exchange of words on live TV before things cool down and Murkomen moved to Serena hotel where he addressed another press conference saying he was unapologetic of what had unfolded at the Panafric Hotel.
