Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has been urged to reinstate Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s bodyguards.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati claimed that Matiang’i should respect the Nairobi county boss and give him humble time to serve Nairobians.
“Matiang’i should respect elected leaders in this country. I am urging the so called Cs to reinstate Sonko’s security for him to continue serving the people of Nairobi,” said Arati.
According to Arati, Matiang’i is running the Interior Ministry as his own home which is illegal and unconstitutional.
“It is the government that has employed police officers and not Matiang’i. Let Matiang’i stop frustrating elected leaders who are committed to serve the electorates by withdrawing their security to expose the leaders to their enemies,” said the ODM MP.
He called on Sonko not to succumb to intimidation and blackmail by cartels who are interested to grab public lands and engage in dubious dealings in the city.
