The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority, C.E.O., Patrick Mwangi has encouraged young people to venture into the jua kali industry to provide alternative entrepreneurship and leadership skills in the sector which he said drives the country's economy.

Speaking in Kisii town, Mwangi regretted that despite young people being endowed with innovative entrepreneurial skills required to transform the jua kali sector into a job creation sector, majority of them shunned the sector describing it as one meant for school drop outs.

"I am challenging young people across the country to shun the negative mentality towards the jua kali sector, instead embrace it and be part of the fresh and innovative entrepreneurship skills required to move the sector to the next economic lane," stated Mwangi.

Mwangi however, tipped the youth on the importance of joining the jua kali associations, describing the association model as critical in changing the way people do business and it could be in handy to facilitate the youth exploit their entrepreneurship skills in the jua kali sector.
