Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has called upon Mombasa county residents to reject NASA leader Raila Odinga ahead of October 26 election.
While campaigning alongside former Senator Hassan Omar in Mombasa, Wa Iria described Odinga's style of politics as 'detrimental to the county's economy.' He urged NASA supporters to turn to Jubilee, reiterating that they valued Mombasa's position as a top regional hub. He also stated that milk, coffee and tea from his county was transported through Mombasa's port and therefore it was in their best interests to work together. “We, the Kikuyu are your best friends because we are businesspeople,” Wa Iria stated.
“There is no Mombasa without upcountry, and there is no upcountry without Mombasa. You don’t know the gem that you are holding,” he added. Wa Iris also accused Odinga of practicing politics that pushes for division among Kenyans.
"What Raila is doing is profiling Kenya. We are your best friends. The greatest enemy is one who tries to divide you and your business partner. There is no way someone can be allowed to incite you against your business partner," he added.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has however, maintained that Mombasa is a Nasa stronghold and Raila Odinga must be the next president of Kenya.
