The government is forcing the multi-billion coal power plant on Lamu people, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said.
Speaking at a rally on Kizingitini Island, Lamu East, when he toured the area, the Nasa principal lauded Wiper deputy party leader Shakila Abdalla standing to oppose the project.
He said Lamu people must rise and denounce the project because it is hazardous on the environment and to the human health.
The former VP said that a similar project had been rejected in Kitui despite the region having rich coal deposits.
On her part, Ms Abdalla said she will rally he people to reject the project and blamed certain individuals who “have been pocketed” to accept the project.
“I will not relent. I will fight for the people of Lamu on the coal power plant,” she said.
