The rebellious attitude of ex-Kitutu Masaba MP was not only full of drama but at times causing embarrassment to the Head of State.
After about 8 years in detention, the firebrand George Anyona extended his criticism on Daniel Moi's regime outside parliament, this time with a lot of freedom.
Sometimes in 1993, Anyona reportedly incited locals against attending Moi's rally in Metamaywa market, with the end result causing panic among KANU politicians from Gusii.
"We went around with a pickup a day prior to the rally and spread the message. We even staged youths who would deal with those who attended," recalls Kevin Kebaso, a former politician.
During the material day, only KANU bigwigs and provincial administrators would be seen at the venue making final arrangements.
And by the time Moi arrived, Kebaso adds, the tents within the venue remains unoccupied forcing Moi to abandon the scene within five minutes.
"Anyona organised everything and all went in his favour. He wanted t show KANU politicians that his territory did not recognise his regime," he said.
