ODM has extended an olive branch to one of its renegade legislators after kicking-out a deputy governor and pardoning two other leaders as campaigns for next year’s general elections heightened.
South Mugirango MP Manson Oyongo who defected to Kenya Social Congress was urged to rejoin the ODM owing to ‘’his firm support’’ for the party and CORD.
Speaking at a women function at Maroo in South Mugirango, nominated senator Janet Ong’era, Kisii county, claimed the party still recognised the ‘’good work’’ Oyongo did by delivering votes in 2013 general elections.
She reminded him that the journey to clinch the country’s top leadership through party leader, Raila Odinga was still on and that the rebel legislator’s input will be invaluable.
On’gera a national official and close confidant of Raila”s remarks were deemed by the supporters to reflect the current thinking of the party on the issue.
Oyongo who will vie for the area gubernatorial seat did not attend the occasion.
She also urged the people of South Mugirango to keep on supporting ODM to aide them in taking over the next government.
The ODM party has since expelled Kisii county deputy governor, Joash Maangi for jumping ship and joining Jubilee Party while the MPs Richard Onyonka Kitutu Chache South and Samson Ogari (Bomachoge Chache) apologised and were forgiven.
