Nyamira District Health Officer Robert Ondieki has called on the owners of 15 bodies that have stayed in Nyamira Hospital Mortuary for the last 4 years to collect them for burial.
Speaking to the Press on Saturday in Nyamira town, Officer Ondieki noted that the bodies have become a menace to the Hospital and the community in general.
He has given the families of the deceased three weeks to go for the bodies saying that most of the bodies were taken to the Mortuary by Police.
"Our Mortuary is congested because of the bodies that have stayed in the morgue since 2012. They have become a nuisance to the Hospital and community in general. 8 are adults and 7 teenagers," confirmed Officer Ondieki.
According to the Health Officer, if the deceased owners will not have responded in the next 21 days, then the Hospital will burry the bodies in public cemetery.
"We have given the relatives 21 days and if they will not have showed up to take their kins before this period elapses, we will have no option but burry them in public cemetery," added Office Ondieki.
This comes a few days after Health officer from Kisii Referral Hospital decried the same menace where 14 bodies had stayed in the facillity for as long as five years and asked their owners to go and collect them for burial.
