The first day of April is recognised worldwide as Fools Day and Friday was that day.
It is always a common encounter to see people create very convincing lies that sound real. Social media, especially, Facebook was full of pranks that marked the day. Quite a number of Nairobians unsuspectingly fell victims to the day's much engineered prank on the presence of Lions in the CBD that were dropped by a van.
The Safaricom Company also caused an online spur after it indicated that they had rolled out Safaricom shuttle services that operated in Nairobi County where customers would pay their travel fare by M-Pesa, enjoying unlimited browsing inside the shuttles and freely charge their phones, also access Okoa rides among other services.
State House director of communications, Dennis Itumbi hinted out as to have proposed to his romantic partner when he posted on his Facebook timeline, “She finally said yes. Other details shall emerge when we walk down the aisle to seal the promise of our Love to each other before Friends and Family.”
Another Facebook page named Kenyans Online posted a statement claiming that Anne Waiguru, the former Dvolution CS had finally been awarded a lucrative job at the State House which went viral. According to the prank, Waiguru had been appointed as the head of a newly established post of presidential agenda and economic schedule, a position which ideally does not even exist at State House.
If you took your time and believed, sorry. It was mere pranks. Take your time to prepare for the next Fools Day, a time like this in the next one year.
