Parents in Kisii County have demanded the early release of county bursary funds to help settle fees payment this term.
The parents led by Wilfred Anyuga on Friday speaking at St. Paul’s Igonga secondary school said most parents won’t afford to pay the whole term fees for students joining form one.
Anyuga said he was asked to pay Sh22, 244 cash for his son to be allowed to join form one.
“I arrived from Nairobi this morning with my son ready to join form one after he was selected to join the school. I am shocked to learn that I should pay the whole term fees. I only paid Sh12,000 and was clear the remaining balance by February. The County bursary should be released in good time to help in settling school fees,” he said.
Stephen Machoni, another parent whose daughter is at the school said he was forced to transfer the daughter to a different school because he can’t afford to pay the whole term fees as ordered by the school.
“I asked my daughter to clear with the school so that I can transfer her to a different school because I don’t have Sh22, 244 to pay at once.
