Moiben MP Silah Tiren has urged the National Government to fast track the process of issuing El Nino preparedness funds.
Speaking at Moiben Center in his constituency on Sunday, Tiren said that although the government promised to issue Sh5 billion for the cause, nothing has been done.
"The National Government has really let down Kenyans living in flood prone areas by not disbursing the funds on time leaving Kenyans to suffer," he said.
He said that people are suffering in Kipkabus and Moiben due to the ongoing rains that are pounding the areas.
"In my constituency, more that 20 families in Kipkabus are displaced and left homeless and as an MP I don't have the funds to settle them," he said.
He urged the president Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and make the funds available to the counties.
"I call upon people in my constituency to vacate flood-prone areas such as near Kipkabus dam with an immdiate effect for them not be affected by the rains that are rendring many homeless," he said.
He promised to do all he can to ensure that those affected are settled.
