Speaking on Thursday during a forum that brought together more than 500 members in Mavivye town centre Mumbuni Sub-Location, the association Secretary Francis Mutiso urged the leaders to ensure elderly funds are not squandered by selfish people.

“We have been suffering silently. Some of us are sick and yet there is some funds meant to help us. We call upon the governments to fast track the process of issuing funds,” said Mutiso.

Mutiso said that the funds will only be of help if they are given to the elderly on time.

“There is no need of keeping that money and it will be issued out,” notes Mutiso.

The veterans however expressed their gratitude to the government for tightening up the security system in the country in a bid to ensure citizens are protected from militia attacks.

“We are happy to see the government taking action on insecurity. It is governments duty to protect its people,” added Mutiso.

Mutiso further condemned people taking advantage of the vulnerable youths and using them to carry out the heinous act in the country.
