Kisumu MCA Calvin Oraro has asked the county government disaster management to roll out funds for emergency and rescue people affected by floods.
Oraro said his ward is among those affected with the ongoing floods which are as a result of heavy rainfall experienced in the area.
“River Kibos broke it's banks and it has affected majority of people living besides it,” said Oraro.
He noted that at least 50 families in his area were affected by the floods and the county government has not taken action to help them.
Speaking at the Kisumu County Assembly premises on Thursday Oraro said the county disaster management should set up tents and drainage systems to avert such in future.
"We passed emergency funds in this House. This is the time to use the funds by helping affected families,” said Oraro.
“I am urging the House to take action and help our people who are suffering,” added Oraro.
Kisumu South West MCA Salome Lungata said that there are families which are seeking refuge in schools in the county since their houses were damaged by floods.
"There are families sleeping outside and they are suffering a lot. We need to rescue the women and children affected by the floods," said Lungata.
