Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has called for the immediate release of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter.
He said it is against the law for the vocal MP to remain behind bars for more than 24 hours after his arrest.
"I want to call for the immediate release of my friend and colleague with immediate effect since its clear that he was arrested for going against the party's stands," Tiren said in Eldoret town, Saturday.
"If a person is arrested he is supposed to be arraigned to a court within 24 hours for him to be charged and not being detained as the case of Keter, I think their aim is to frustrate him for defying party orders," he added.
Tiren further blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for the arrest that follows a recent row over sharing of the parliamentary positions.
"As Members of Parliament, we will fight to the latter to ensure Keter is released for him to continue discharging his duties. We will continue fighting for the rights of the oppressed in the country," noted Tiren.
Keter was arrested on Friday at Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) offices for allegedly forging Treasury bills worth Sh633 million.
