Relegated KPL side Muhoroni Youth has moved to the High Court in Kisumu to stop their drop from the league.
Muhoroni are seeking orders to stop Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and Kenya Premier League (KPL) Limited from relegatingthem until a case they have filed is heard.
The side finished last in the league season of 2017 and was automatically relegated to the National Super League (NSL) together with fellow Nyanza-based Western Stima that was placed 17th.
But the team now says they were disadvantaged in 2017 after an earlier decision by FKF to relegate them alongside Sofapaka at the beginning of the 2017 season for failing to comply with FIFA club licensing requirements.
They argue that the earlier relegation and reinstatement affected their morale leading to the poor performance and eventual relegation from the top division.
They also say that relegating them will render jobless their over 30 players and 14 members of the technical bench.
The case will be mentioned Wednesday, January 3, before Justice David Majanja at the Kisumu High Court.
