According to the latest price list, the cost of a litre of petrol dropped by Sh3.74 and it will now retail at Sh91.39 in Nairobi.

On the same note, diesel will be Sh2.05 cheaper while the price for a litre of kerosene will be down by Sh3.38.

According to the regulator, the drop in the prices is attributed to the trend in the global market where the prices have been dropping in the recent past and it is also as a result of the strengthening in value of the Kenyan shilling.

This reduction in the prices comes at a time when there has been sustained calls by stakeholders on the regulator to make public the approaches it uses to arrive at the prices.

ERC was formed by the government in 2010 to help ensure consumers are shielded from the exploitation of the oil marketers who have been accused of contributing to inflation in the country.
