According to KUCCPS chief executive Prof John Muraguri, universities are largely to blame for the perennial situation adding that  no longer will students be forced to undergo programs that they never opted for.

Muraguri further faulted universities over what he termed as introducing unpopular courses that do not even support the economy.

"I wonder if universities re-look some of their programmes," he said adding that such unpopular courses would soon be abolished to give way to the most appealing.

Many students who  meet the cut-off points for  degree courses have had to transfer to self- sponsored programs or even defer their studies after being admitted to courses they did not apply for.
