Mombasa County Government has moved quickly to resolve the looming nurses strike that was to start any day this week over delayed February salaries.
Nurses working in public hospitals in Mombasa county have now agreed to suspend it.
Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Mombasa chapter secretary general Peter Maroko said that the planned strike had been called off after the county government paid the salaries.
Maroko stated, “February salary was delayed and people were paid from Thursday, Friday and latest Monday so everyone has been paid and the only problem we have is that some of us have some of their statutory deductions remitted partially but the county government has promised to release the remaining deductions to relevant bodies.
