Marsabit County government in collaboration with the ministry of Devolution has started supplying relief food and water to locals worst hit by drought.

1,400 bags of maize and 400 bags of beans has already been distributed to Saku and Moyale sub counties.

According to the County Governor Mohammed Ali, 100 cartons of cooking oil and 50 bags of special food for expectant and lactating women will be supplied.

He said the distribution will be guided by needs of the people who have been affected by drought. 

Ali added that no one will die from hunger due to the prolonged drought. 

Governor Ali said Gombo, Nagayo and Jaldesa areas will receive relief food  and  the national government has provided 3 lorries to help in supplying of the food to remote areas.

"The county has received one water bowser which will be sent to the affected areas and two more are expected," he said.

He said the government will supply more food to herders in Saku, Badan Areo, Laqi and Leasmis areas to mitigate effects of the drought.
