Public officers found diverting relief food meant for hunger stricken Garissa County residents will be dealt with firmly, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale has said.
Speaking in Garissa town on Saturday, Duale said the government is working tirelessly to ensure that all those in need of relief food received their ration.
“The government is doing its best to ensure all needy cases are attended to. We will not allow our people to starve as we watch,” he noted.
He urged asked Garisaa county commissioner James Kianda to arrest any suspect linked to stealing relief food to be charged in court.
"Work with relevant stakeholders, to review the needs of those affected by drought to ensure that cases of additional people in need of relief food assistance are taken care of," Duale told Kianda.
He said that the government will continue distributing relief food to all affected areas in the country.
