Residents of Rhonda Ng’ambo in Nakuru have a reason to smile after they got a matatu route to serve the area.
The residents have been using bodabodas as no matatus plied the route.
The new route will be a great deal for the residents who have been complaining of inhaling dust as they rode on bodabodas on the dusty Sewage-Ng’ambo road.
The route will serve commuters along the General Kariba road that connects Afraha Stadium and Kenlands Estate, and goes all the way to Ng’ambo.
“This is a relief. It has been tough using bodabodas here with all this dust,” a resident who declined to be named said.
“I am now happy that there will be matatus to serve us where the fare is favourable and I can also carry more stuff for my stall,” said another resident, identified only as Mama Ian.
But it is not all good news to everyone as bodaboda people operating in the area fear missing customers.
“I know I will lose several customers whom I’ve been ferrying to work every morning since I know they will prefer using matatus. But I don’t think I will be too much affected,” Stephen Muroki, a bodaboda rider, said.
