Karuturi Flower Farm workers in Naivasha can now breathe a sigh of relief after the owner agreed to clear all his debts and reopen the farm.
Business mogul Ram Karuturi has exuded hope that the farm that is currently under-liquidation will be running in a couple of months once the court cases are done away with.
The farm that is worth over Sh 8B was put under receivership last year before liquidators moved in two months ago and closed it down after the owner consented to its winding up.
Over 10,000 people directly and indirectly employed by the farm had been left jobless.
“We have embarked on the process of paying all our debtors and I'm seeking the government support so that this farm can be reopened in a couple of months,” he said.
The trader was however quick to seek a forensic audit on the total flowers exported and sold by the receiver managers when they took over the running of the farm.
“We have information and evidence of mischievous deals during the tenure of the receiver-managers and hence the need for a forensic audit,” he said.
The reoppeningof the farm is expected to breathe new air into the economy of the area and county as a whole.
