Kisii County governor James Omgwae has given Sh 30 million to the Kenya Tea Development Agency.
This the county boss said would help in the construction of Sambogo Tea Factory.
Farmers say that it will help relieve farmers who take their tea to the factory.
"We shall also ensure that we put up tea nursuries in various areas to supply farmers with seedlings," Governor Ongwae said.
He also told the residents to plant more tea as it is not only a source of income but also creates employment opportunities among women and the youth.
"I urge you to plant more tea because it is a source of income in this place. It also creates job opportunities to those youths and women who are jobless", he said.
The governor also said that the Sh 30 million will be used to construct the roads that connect to the buying centre.
For years now our tea farmers have been struggling reason the governor said he is willing to help boost the sector.
