Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Emmanuel Gospel Ministries Church at Muthangari, on Frid, Bishop Stanley Mwakughu said that the church leaders were dismayed by the county government’s decision to charge them Sh2,000 to be allowed to conduct public religious rallies.

The religious leader further said that the levies were tantamount to compelling the clergy to start paying for spreading the gospel which he said was hurting endeavours to convert more people from their evil ways.

“We are requesting that those charges be reviewed. We are working hard to support the county government with prayers and spiritual support so we are partners in development for this county,” said the bishop.

He said that spreading the gospel to the residents should be a free affair and the county leaders should charge money from the churches to conduct their activities.

Other leaders who attended the ceremony include Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga and five other bishops from various Evangelical Churches in the region.

In the past five months, there have been several prayer meetings jointly organised by the county government and church leaders.
