Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on religious leaders in the county to support his development agenda.
Speaking to the press at county headquarters after hosting Muslim leaders on Thursday, Mbugua said that religious leaders have a big role to play towards development in the county.
He said that his government has welcomed views from all religious leaders stating that they should come out and promote development.
“Religious leaders across Nakuru should partner with my government as we seek to promote development. Time has come for the church to take its responsibility and shape the development of the society,” he said.
Mbugua also said that his government is all inclusive adding that all religious groups have been accommodated in the county government.
At the same timee, Mbugua urged religious leaders to support security initiatives both in the county and at the national level.
He said: "Security is crucial for development and everyone should be engaged in the fight against terror elements. The Mandera terror attack was a plot by the militia groups to divide the country on religion basis."
Mbugua asked both Muslim and Christian leaders to counsel and caution the youths against joining terror and criminal groups.
He said that youth radicalisation should not be tolerated and that leaders should be on the fore front in condemning the same.
