Religious leaders in Uasin Gishu County have condemned governor Jackson Mandago and Independent gubernatorial candidate Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki for allowing their supporters attack each other at Silverline hotel during their campaigns on Friday.
They said this is a bad sign and might lead to violence amid August 8th elections."As religious leaders we are really disappointed with how the two candidates are conducting their campaigns. Why are they allowing their supporters to clash," said CIPK chairman Abubakar Bini in Eldoret town,Monday."Such incidences can cause tension among various communities forcing them to vacate. We cannot stay mum while our county is burning," said Uasin Gishu chairman of gospel ministers bishop Wilson Kurui.They urged IEBC to arrest and prosecute those spreading hate messages. "We cannot allow our county to go back to the 2007 post election violence. IEBC should take stern actions against them," said Eldoret Catholic Diocese Archbishop Cornelius Korir.This comes after Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago and independent gubernatorial candidate Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki supporters clashed at silverline hotel leaving 7 people injured.
