Uasin Gishu county religious leaders have condemned the Jubilee government and the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) for shutting down television stations for airing the controversial swearing in of Raila Odinga.

They said the attack on the media freedom is uncalled for, out of order and meant to bring the country back to the dark days where we had one propaganda station.

“I want to condemn the shutting down of TV stations with the strongest terms possible since this is infringing the freedom of the media and as religious leaders, we are really disappointed with the Jubilee government,” said the chairman of gospel ministers Bishop Wilson Kurui.

“This is a real let down to the hard-fought freedom of the press. Media should be left to conduct their job of informing, educating and entertaining the public. What don’t they want us to see,” said CIPK chairman Abubakar Bini.
