A retired Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Bishop has hit out at religious leaders in the country for taking political sides. The former Edoret ACK Diocese Bishop Thomas Kogo says as a result of religious leaders being influenced by political affiliations, the nation has witnessed increased incidences of social injustices.Speaking in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Bishop Kogo expressed concerns that it had become hard for religious leaders to openly speak out against the country's leadership when they go wrong."As religious leaders, we were called to serve the Lord and not politicians but it's sad that some religious leaders are now serving politicians and not the Lord making it hard for them to condemn injustices in the country," said the retired Bishop."Our country is passing through a lot because we have failed in our mandate of giving directions and praying for our political leaders just because we have taken sides or we have been bribed. Let's work for Lord and avoid being compromised," he added. The clergy further asked Christians across the country to pray for peace and unity especially at this time that the nation is experiencing heightened political temperatures. To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your WhatsApp number to 074094990.
