Tharaka Nithi County Senator Kithure Kindiki has called on religious leaders to spearhead dialogue between the opposition coalition NASA and the government.

The Senator urged church leaders to take their roles seriously without fear of political leaders since their authority comes from God.

“I am calling on church leaders to be brave. You have authority from God; speak to the nation, speak to the leaders both in government and the opposition and make sure that our country does not go down to the dogs,” Kindiki said.

Kindiki who is also the Senate Deputy Speaker warned Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka against taking oath of office during a church service on Sunday at Magondu Catholic Church saying that there is no constitutional provision for such actions.

“It is with humility that I am talking to Raila Odinga and the company, who are our brothers that they should not continue with the joke they are planning because it is likely to cause suffering to innocent civilians,” he said.

“There is no law that supports what they are saying that they are going to do on the 30th of this month,” Kindiki added.

Religious leaders have been calling on both the government and the opposition to engage in dialogue in order to get to an amicable solution over the current stalemate.
