Kisii County governor James Ongwae and Senator Chris Obure have called for unity in the Gusii community so as to foster development.

Addressing the press on Monday in his office during a meeting with the former councilors led by their chairman David Ong'ori, the governor said that the community will only achieve its aspirations if she remained united.

“I would like to urge all residents within the county to be united so that we can move ahead in terms of development, we all know that pulling together is the strength to achieving our goals,” said Ongwae.

The meeting was attended by his deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Kisii county Women representative Mary Otara.

“We have held this meeting with the former councilors which has also been attended by our Senator and Women rep, this goes a long way in showing that we are united, hence, we urge the community to be united so that we can develop this county," added Ongwae.

The meeting which was attended by the former councilors was seeking the county's intervention so that they can be compensated by the national government.
