The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) Uasin Gishu Secretary general Elijah Maiyo has told the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to remit their union dues with immediate effect.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Maiyo lamented that they have not been paid their salaries in the last three months.
This is as a result of TSC failing to remit their dues to the KUPPET account.
"As union leaders, we are not happy with the way TSC is treating us, how do they expect us to carry out our normal functions without remitting funds," said Maiyo.
He that the delay by TSC to remit their dues has paralyzed all functions at the union offices due to lack of funds to pay rent.
"We are reading malice in the delay, their aim is to frustrate us to yield to their demands of forcing Members of Parliament who are till KUPPET officials to quit their union's positions but we will not allow that to happen. We are happy with them representing our interests in parliament," added Maiyo.
He also noted that some KUPPET employees have bank loans and other financial obligations that have not been met for several months now.
KUPPET is demanding over Sh35 million from TSC.
