A case in point is the recent altercation between Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Govenor Evans Kidero during a Senate Public Accounts Committee meeting in which the former accused the latter of mismanaging county funds.

It is based on that altercation, that West Pokot Govenor Simon Kachapin is now calling for the removal of Senators eyeing the gubernatorial seats from the Senate's oversight and departmental committees.

Kachapin argues that it is impossible for Senators to be objective in their oversight role as they intend unseat their governors.

He has insisted that the committees have been turned into avenues to advance personal interests.

The sentiments were echoed by Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto who is now calling on Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro to wade into the matter and address the conflict of interest scourge.

Relations between some governors and senators have been rocky, characterised by constant exchange of words and even physical fights.
