Avenure Hospital in Kisumu has opened two units that will deal with Renal and Cancer related diseases in order to reduce death cases as a result of the two diseases.
The opening of the Renal Dialysis unit at the hospital also marked the launching of a state-of-the- art 64-slide CT scan by the Jamu Imaging Center in partnership with the hospital.
Speaking during the launch in Kisumu on Saturday, CORD Leader’s wife Ida Odinga said the introduction of the machine was a sign of great improvements in the health sector within the county.
Odinga said since the unit has been opened in Kisumu, it will be more reachable and cut the costs of traveling outside the town by patients to go for tests and treatments.
“We hope this will be utilised well and doctors will provide their best of services to the patients,” said Odinga.
Jamu Imaging Center Managing Director Peter Marenya said the scan is one of its kind in Western Kenya region due to its fastness.
He said the machine has got good image resolution; hence diagnosis of a tiny problem is possible.
Marenya said they want to give specialised services within the region and through the use of Tele-Radiology they can manage any emergencies from anywhere.
