Over 50 youth groups in Nyaribari Chache who benefited from Uwezo Funds have been called upon to ensure that they repay their loans on time to avoid being blacklisted.
Speaking early Monday morning in his office at Keumbu, Nyaribari Chache constituency Youth Officer Wilfred Nyasani said there are a number of groups that have already been blacklisted over the late payment or who defaulted and there was need for the current loan holders to learn from them.
“When given a loan, the groups should ensure that they invest wisely in projects that can enable them repay back the loans with ease,” he added.
The officer regretted that there are over 20 youth groups that have been blacklisted from getting the Uwezo Funds due to defaulting cases.
He called on more young people from the area to ensure that they form groups through which they could be assisted to empower themselves and contribute to the development of the area.
The officer called for the formation of more groups saying there was a possibility that the fund would get more resources in the 2016-2017 financial year.
He observed that government could only engage in business with registered groups that follow the regulations provided by the ministry of labour, social services and gender.
