Ongwae further admitted that it was difficult for officials to detect cases of smuggling without prior information from members of the public.

Speaking on Wednesday at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital when he flagged off drugs worth 40 million , Ongwae appealed to residents to raise alarm whenever they have information about the drug smuggling.

“I is difficult for officials from the ministry to detect drug smuggling if members of the public do not work with us. These cases are common but catching up with culprits has been headache," he said.

"Government drugs have a mark of quality for easy identification. Report unscrupulous business people who sell government drugs for you at local chemists," he added.

Ongwae also revealed that his administration has lined up commissioning of 30 health centers which were built through Constituency Development Funds (CDF) and completed by county government.
