Residents of Athi River town should be careful to prevent being electrocuted during the ongoing heavy rains, a prominent businessman has cautioned.

Director of Bedruma Company Limited Dennis Muchiri said residents should be cautious and careful enough to report faults either on electric lines or transformers along the town’s streets.

“There are increased faults on Kenya Power lines in Athi River town during the ongoing heavy rain falls, the residents need to be warned not to take chance and instead report case they spot such faults,” said Muchiri.

Mr Muchiri ‘s company deals in real estates development in the town alongside other estates in Nairobi, Machakos and Kajiado County.

He called on tenants living in all houses in the town to equally be careful at their premises to avoid accidents resulting from electric faults.

Muchiri equally called on management of Kenya Power in the region to take cognizance of the state of some of their property in the region and rectify faults before accidents are reported.

He said sparks of fire had been seen from a number of transformers in the town and its environs.

He said there was no reported incident of electrocution so far though.
